“Probable cause” and the need for solidarity

My last post noted that I’m reading Jon Krakauer’s Missoula. One problem that stands out in the book is prosecutors’ frequent failure, or outright refusal, to find probable cause to prosecute an alleged rapist. I can’t by any means be the first to draw this comparison, but there’s a clear parallel between the arguments often made by prosecutors in rape cases and those often made by prosecutors in cases of police assaults or murders of black men and boys.

Solidarity is needed.
